This summer at Fellowship has been full of activity, as we ran a 4-week day camp.  What a delight it was to hear the sound of kids learning and playing every day!  The Campers had high praise for how enjoyable the camp was.  With the help of the Director and the three counsellors we were able to hire with grant money, our small camp was a success. Most of the kids signed up for a week or two to “try it out” and then returned for the entire time.

The main theme was the “Fruit of the Spirit” as we looked at what love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control look like in the life of a child (not to mention the lives of the staff!)  Then we looked at the life of Timothy to see the fruit embodied, and especially this key verse: “You are young, but do not let anyone treat you as if you were not important. Be an example to show the believers how they should live. Show them with your words, with the way you live, with your love, with your faith, and with your pure life.” Through all the lessons we talked about Jesus who helps us, and is ready to save us, forgive us and hear our prayers.

We enjoyed having so many Campers from families of new Canadians from every continent (ok, not Antarctica) . This is exactly what this church is trying to be -- a community which represents the diversity of our city.  How exciting it is to see these kids of vastly different languages and cultures, learning to love and befriend one another. What a fine example to us all.

As mentioned in a previous post, we also hosted Jeremy Benjamin and the “I Am Not My Own” national tour.  We are exited to share that nearly $6000 was raised toward the national fundraising goal. Most importantly, we were reminded of the value of our own story in bearing witness to the truth that “I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.” Thanks to all who worked hard to make this event a success!

As we wrap up the summer, we are thankful for God’s grace on us and excited for what He will do this Fall.
