Easter 5

We will be holding an online prayer time on Friday (tomorrow) at 11am. Just use the “online office hours” link at the bottom of this email and join us for an hour of prayer together.

*******************

Pearl suggested this song which you know and likely love. If you love it, you are not alone; according to Facebook, this version alone has been played … well, you can see the number of views for yourself, let’s just say quite a few times.  Sing along now, right in your home!

Today’s verse is the very challenging yet incredibly hopeful Philippians 3:10-11.  Can we pray this prayer with the apostle Paul?

I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection
and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

Here is a Resonate Global Mission video which Karen L shared. It’s entitled, “We’re In This Together.” That is a great reminder that our missionaries need for us to be in this with them.  It’s only 4 minutes long, so let me encourage you to stop the video after each person, couple or family shares, and lift them up before God in prayer.  We know they all have their unique challenges during this global pandemic. Yet they offer this video to encourage us!

In closing, let’s pray together as Jesus taught us to pray:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
As we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

We close with God’s blessing,

The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Pastor Mark

Mark. Thank you for your daily "elbow bump". Really appreciated.
Pearl surely is right. That was a beautiful uplifting song. I listened to it, then invited my neighbor to come and listen. We need up lifting songs in this crazy world we are living in now. Wearing masks to just go and step in some ones room.
Thankfully I am well. Can't say the same for residents in Grace Manor. As of today there are 27 residents infected and 9 staff and one death. Thankfully they are all mild cases.
We have daily up dates and devotions here at 10am. I am part of a group making masks.
I have a list of residents to call ones a week to make sure they are o.k. and asked them if they are in need of anything . A good way to at least talk to someone.
I think this virus is trying to make techies out of us. Keep up the good work Mark. Trudy

Trudy, so glad you are well and that you could enjoy the song with your neighbour. That is concerning about the death in Grace Manor, I had not heard that. The residents there and all of HCH are certainly in our prayers. Let's keep reaching out, helping and praying for one another!

Loved the video and appreciated all the well wishers.
I found a bunch of Charles Spurgeon sermons on YouTube if anyone is interested.
This one below is on the Holy Spirit
